WorkpaperOS Payroll is its own product with its own pricing, and it integrates directly into Books so payroll records, employee records, registers, and GL postings stay in one client accounting workflow.
Payroll runs inside Books, on the same ledger the payroll journals post to. Payroll processing is United States only today - payroll for other countries is being built, and we will not put a date on it until it is real. Outside the United States you record payroll from your existing provider as a journal entry and reconcile the payroll liability accounts in the close.

- Is Payroll a separate subscription?
- Yes. WorkpaperOS Payroll is launching as its own product with its own pricing, and it integrates directly into your Books app so pay runs post straight to the ledger.
- Which countries can run payroll?
- The United States, today. Payroll for other countries is being built and we are not attaching a date to it. Books itself is not United States only - the ledger, reconciliation workpapers, close, and reports work for organizations anywhere - so until payroll reaches your country you record it as a journal entry and reconcile the payroll liability accounts in the close. Standalone Africa payroll products live on the separate WorkpaperOS Africa site.
- Can I run payroll without using Books?
- Payroll posts into the books, so the cleanest workflow is to run it inside Books.
