Founder note

WorkpaperOS exists because the work was painful. Benedict E. Mbecha spent fifteen years inside audit, technical accounting, and ERP implementation - at PricewaterhouseCoopers Virginia, at Akintola Williams Cameroon, as Senior Technical Accountant inside a Fortune-scale healthcare enterprise, and as managing partner of a Richmond accounting firm. Every engagement, the same pattern: workpapers in Excel, evidence in email, sign-offs in Word, payroll in one system, books in another, training records nowhere. The tools that promised to fix it were either built for Fortune 500 firms with seven-figure budgets or built for the US market only, with no idea what an OHADA chart of accounts looks like. So he started building. WorkpaperOS is the workspace he and his team wish had existed when they were on the audit floor.

Leadership

Benedict E. Mbecha, CPA, MBA, FCCA

Founder & CEO | Richmond, Virginia | Lead, Accounting Apprenticeship

Benedict founded WorkpaperOS after fifteen years moving between audit, technical accounting, and ERP implementation. He spent his early career as a Senior Auditor at Akintola Williams Cameroon and at PricewaterhouseCoopers Virginia, then served as Senior Technical Accountant at Sound Physicians, a Fortune-scale healthcare enterprise. His MBA at Maharishi International University specialized in SAP Finance and other ERP systems. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and an active CPA in New York, Virginia, and Ohio, and is currently completing the Harvard Business School Online AI for Leaders certificate program. For more than a decade he has served as an Oxford Brookes University Registered Mentor, guiding ACCA candidates through the OBU Research and Analysis Project that completes the BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting - formal mentoring training he completed through the Oxford Brookes Online Mentoring Course. That mentor experience is the spine of the WorkpaperOS Accounting Apprenticeship curriculum.

Susana Mbeboh, MD

Co-Founder & Medical Director, Healthcare Apprenticeship | Virginia

Susana co-founded WorkpaperOS and leads the medical and clinical curriculum for the Healthcare Apprenticeship track. An ECFMG-certified physician with a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Buea, she practiced as a General Practitioner in Cameroon before joining UCLA's Program for the Advancement of Surgical Equity in 2017, where she has completed research training in implementation science, scientific writing, and global surgical equity. She is a volunteer with the Virginia Medical Reserve Corps and has published peer-reviewed community-health research on traumatic brain injury and limb-injury epidemiology. At WorkpaperOS she owns the medical and allied-health curriculum design, the clinical-competency frameworks underneath the CNA, HHA, DSP, and Medical Assistant tracks, and the partnership pipeline with US small and medium healthcare operators.

Ferdinand Mbecha, PhD

Founding Engineer & Head of Engineering | Berlin | Apprenticeship Platform Architect

Ferdinand leads WorkpaperOS engineering from Berlin. He holds a PhD from Freie Universitat Berlin in Postcolonial Studies, Media and Identity, awarded Magna Cum Laude, and an MA in English Studies from the same institution. He completed the Full-Stack Developer programme at the Digital Career Institute Berlin and has been writing production software full-time since 2022 as a Software Engineer at evorhei it gmbh in Germany. At WorkpaperOS he owns the multi-tenant architecture that lets one platform serve firms, businesses, nonprofits, and individual filers across multiple countries and currencies - including the tenant-isolation layer in the Apprenticeship product. His humanities doctorate also informs the curriculum architecture: structured pedagogical milestones, rigorous research methodology, and the assessment design that runs underneath the Apprenticeship MCQ and competency framework. Stack: Next.js, React, Node, Supabase, Postgres with row-level security, and Anthropic's Model Context Protocol for the in-app AI workflows.

Apprenticeship Practice

WorkpaperOS Apprenticeship runs as two parallel tracks. The Accounting Apprenticeship track is led by Benedict and Ferdinand, drawing on Benedict's decade as an Oxford Brookes Registered Mentor and Ferdinand's pedagogical and engineering work on the curriculum platform. The Healthcare Apprenticeship track is led by Susana on the medical and clinical-curriculum side and by Serge and Edien on program operations and compliance, serving small and medium home health agencies, residential service providers, assisted living facilities, and direct support professional employers running CNA, HHA, DSP, and Medical Assistant programs across Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, and DC. Both tracks share the same workspace; the difference is the curriculum and the state-agency reporting.

Serge Atangageh, MHA

Director, Healthcare Apprenticeship Programs | Virginia

Serge leads the Healthcare Apprenticeship track at WorkpaperOS. He brings ten years of US healthcare operations experience: Program Supervisor at a Virginia residential services provider, Admission Director at a Maryland post-acute system, and four years working medical records at a Bethesda care facility. His Master of Healthcare Administration from Western Governors University sits on top of a BA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Buea and nearly five years as a Senior Auditor at Akintola Williams Cameroon. He drives the rollout of state-specific apprenticeship workflows - Virginia HIRED, Maryland MATP, ApprenticeOhio, and DC Board of Nursing - and the small-operator onboarding model the product is built around. Bilingual English and French.

Edien Bebongachem, CPA, RN

Healthcare Compliance Advisor | Registered Nurse | Columbus, Ohio

Edien advises on healthcare compliance and US audit standards for WorkpaperOS Books, Audit, and Apprenticeship. He holds an active Ohio CPA license, is registered in North Dakota, and is also a Registered Nurse, with fourteen years of accounting experience inside US home and community-based health services companies across the Midwest. He trained on the ACCA route at Oxford Brookes University and gained his audit foundation as an Audit Senior at Akintola Williams Cameroon. His work on the platform covers healthcare payroll, statutory reporting, audit-ready records, and the financial-controls templates that small home health, residential, and behavioral health operators rely on.

OHADA & Africa Practice

WorkpaperOS Books CM, the OHADA payroll engine, and the Cameroon tax workflows are shaped by practitioners who have spent careers inside Big Four audit, statutory tax, and NGO compliance across the CEMAC and OHADA regions.

Nancy brings eight years of Big Four audit to the WorkpaperOS audit workflow. She joined PricewaterhouseCoopers Cameroon in 2013 as an Audit Associate and progressed to Senior Associate, leading multi-sector audit engagements under PwC methodology in OHADA and Cameroonian tax environments. She now serves as Risk and Compliance Coordinator at the Norwegian Refugee Council in Cameroon, working on the international NGO compliance side, and was previously a Senior Internal Auditor at Christian Blind Mission. Why this team

What makes WorkpaperOS different from generic accounting software.

Built by people who do the work

Every workflow in WorkpaperOS started as a real engagement procedure, not a product team's whiteboard. The audit module follows how PwC and Akintola Williams alumni actually run a file. The books module follows OHADA, Cameroon DGI, and CNPS conventions because the people writing the rules wrote the workflows.

Multi-jurisdiction by design

Active CPAs in three US states. ACCA-trained practitioners in OHADA. A senior FCA partner advising on CEMAC audit practice. A forensic investigator running Cameroon tax workflows. A Berlin-based engineering lead with multi-tenant architecture experience. The platform serves US firms, Cameroonian firms, US healthcare operators, and individual filers from one workspace because the team itself works across those jurisdictions every day.

Apprentice-first, two tracks deep

WorkpaperOS Apprenticeship runs two tracks - Accounting, led by a Fellow of ACCA who has spent a decade as an Oxford Brookes Registered Mentor guiding ACCA candidates through the BSc Applied Accounting; and Healthcare, led by a US Master of Healthcare Administration with ten years inside Virginia and Maryland care operations. Both tracks share the same workspace the firm uses for client work. The software is what we needed first.

Build with us.

WorkpaperOS is hiring across engineering, audit practice, healthcare apprenticeship, and country-specific accounting workflow design. We are particularly interested in licensed CPAs, ACCA / FCCA practitioners with Big Four experience, full-stack engineers, and US-licensed healthcare administrators with operations experience in small and medium agencies.
